Luke Edgemon Interview (Issue #1)

I had the honour of interviewing the very talented Luke Edgemon for 'The Gleek' Issue #1. Luke starred as a Warbler on Glee, as well as being a very talented singer with an extremely bright future ahead of him.
“It will officially be out. I am the clumsiest, most forgetful little Warbler there ever was.”

1.How would you describe the environment on set?

The environment on the set is WONDERFUL. as many jokes as were thrown around about glitter leaking from everything pavarotti and the warblers did, it wasn't far from that. the cast members are very task oriented, but SO happy and fun to be around. i was blessed to be on that set, and i counted myself lucky each time i stepped foot on the lot.

2.Can you tell us a Warbler (behind set) story?

hmmm, there are so many of those!! one fun fact that not many people know is that we all got nicknames from our choreographer, zach. mine started out as "Goodbye," because i would always talk too much with Nelson and Titus, and would have to be told to walk away. he'd scream "GOODBYE," and then wave his hand, hahah. it eventually became "Shanay." i'm a self-proclaimed TERRIBLE dancer, and in the number we performed for Barbra Streisand, zach said, "and luke, you'll shanay here," and i came back with, "what girl?!" and the rest is history.

3. Did anybody have a quirky habit?

hahah, Jon Hall always sings this little riff at the end of every sentence. it's from a Chris Brown song, and has since been deemed the "the warbler cry."

4. Where do you hope to be creatively in 5 years?

In five years, I hope to be in the process of recording a studio album. whether it is my first or second, i'm not sure, but i plan to be working hard and sharing my gift of song with as many people as i can possibly reach.

5. How did you get the part on Glee?

I'd been doing some work on another project with the vocal director for the show, and he called me one afternoon and said, "how'd you like to go back to high school?" almost immediately, we dyed my hair, took out my nose ring, shaved my face, covered my tattoos, and the rest is history...

6. Favourite working relationship on set?

Definitely telly leung. i've grown extremely close to most of the boys in our little family, but telly has become one of my favorite friends...not only professionally, but in life. he's always quick to offer great advice, even when you don't know you're looking for it yet, and makes the tastiest beverages. so many nights we'd sit up until the early hours of the morning, just talking. telly's one of those people that you know you'll have around for a lifetime, you know? i'm very blessed to be able to call him my friend.

7. Tell us about your singing career?

I wouldn't really call it a "career" yet. when it comes to the industry, i'm still such a baby. i moved from my little town in north carolina to Los Angeles at the end of september, and have already had the chance to work as a warbler, sing on glee, work with vocals for disney, sesame street, and a few other video games and movies here and there. most people work years to achieve such honor, and i've accomplished it all in six months. i consider myself SO lucky, and thank god every single day for where i'm at presently. i also am encouraged, as i know that these things i've experienced thus far are only stepping stones on the road to what's next. big things are happening soon...i know it.

8. Give us 2 truths and 1 lie?

-i am horribly allergic to cats.
-i have taken a singing lesson.
-i used to have a bunny.
(bunny's not true)
